Our Wigston branch is two centuries old
The Wigston branch of Bell Brown and Bentley is located in one of the oldest buildings in the area; built in the late 1700s it is approximately 220 years old.
Before the building became part of our practice history it was a grand farm house that had been left derelict for a number of years. Spinsters are thought to have inhabited the premises previously and once deceased, the space was left derelict.
When we discovered the building it housed a number of interesting items including an old cheese making machine. Some of the things we found in the house were of no use to us, and so they were passed on to Mr Duncan Lucas who took the ‘historical artefacts’ so that they could be displayed in museums.
Once we obtained the premises in 1981 we completely stripped it. It then underwent an extensive refit to make it suitable for veterinary use. The space wasn’t large enough to fit an operating theatre, but it was and still remains a perfect place to bring your small animal to receive first class consultations and the great care they deserve.
If you bring your furry friend to the Wigston branch and they require further veterinary attention – an operation for example – your case will be referred to one of our other branches that are equipped to deal with them.
